Swiftclik | Thermal Label Ribbons | Which Ribbon to choose ?
Wax ribbons are generally used for printing onto paper labels when the life of the label needs to be a reasonable length of time. Wax ribbon images are subject to scuffing and scratching when boxes rub together. Wax ribbons are not resistant to chemicals or oil but are suitable for general everyday use
Wax Resin ribbons produce a finer image on very smooth paper or coated paper labels. They are generally used to provide a more durable printed image that will withstand scratching and scuffing
Resin ribbons produce the longest lasting image and are scuff and scratch resistant as well as resisting oil and chemicals. They should only be used on synthetic materials such as polyester, polypropylene and vinyl. Using resin ribbons on plain paper labels will not give a good result unless the label has been 'top coated'. The resin is designed to slightly dissolve into or adhere to the plastic surface of the label and becomes extremely durable, depending on the plastic material and ribbon make used
